Tuesday, December 10 Classes

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 0 Reading Street, Page 203: Read the short story "In the Ocean Deeps". Discussed what was happening in the story and highlighted the vocabulary. The story is about how and why people explore the deep ocean and what can be found there. Class Period 7 Reading Street, Page 204-208: Started reading the unit story and discussed the story and vocabulary in detail. The story is about the exploration of the famous ship The Titanic. Homework: 1) Week 16 Vocabulary #11-20, write words x4, write definitions x1 2) OKSensay Week 16 Reading Comprehension Questions.

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 2 Introduced Week 16 "The Unsinkable Wreck of the RMS Titanic" Vocabulary: 1. fatally (adv.)-in a way that causes death 2. graze (v.)- to touch and rub against something while passing it, causing slight damage 3. doomed (adj.)- certain to fail, die, or be destroyed 4. stern (n.)- the back part of a ship or boat 5. davit (n.)- A small crane that projects over the side of a ship and is used to hoist boats, anchors, and cargo 6. bow (n.)- the front part of a ship 7. stateroom (n.)- a room where you sleep on a cruise ship (= a large ship like a hotel) 8. dome (n.)- a rounded roof on a building or a room, or a building with such a roof 9. explore (v.)- to search and discover 10. staircase (n.)- a set of stairs inside a building, usually with a bar fixed on the wall or onto vertical poles at the side for you to hold on to 11. eyeball (n.)- the whole eye, including the part that cannot usually ...

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 1 1) The students took the Week 15 Vocabulary Test. Class Period 2 1) Reading Street, Page 201. We read the story "Shipwreck" about the famous Titanic shipwreck. I asked the students questions and explained the story in more detail. 2) Reading Street, Page 203. We started reading the story "In the Ocean Deeps", but then I decided to show a video about the exploration of the Mariana Trench that described the types of things and animals that can survive the water pressure so deep under the sea. Homework: 1) Write 5 Sentences, with 2 vocabulary words in each sentence. 2) OKSensay Week 15 Read Aloud Questions.

Thursday, December 5 Class

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 1 Reviewed Week 15 "Unsinkable Wreck of the RMS Titanic" Vocabulary, #1-20. Our test tomorrow will only be only be on these words. Page 329: Reviewed the vocabulary words in the word box and matched the words to the definitions. Answered the crossword hints to fill out the puzzle with the vocabulary words. Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 1 1) I went over the simplified version of the definitions with the class. 2) We went over Part B and Part C of the practice exam. Class Period 2 1) Took the Week 14 Unit Test. 2) We read the first paragraph of the "Skunk Ladder" on page 176. The students should finish reading the story on their own.
