Wednesday, November 20 Class

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 2 Since half of the class was at the dentist for most of the period, we reviewed the vocabulary again in preparation for the exam on Friday. During the last 10 minutes of class, we also visited a Singapore exhibit to learn more about Singapore. Tuesday, November 19 Classes

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 0 Reading Street, Pages 168-170 Page 168-169: We talked about what adventures are and what kind of adventures we have had or can have. Page 170: Talked about what characters are in a story (anyone from the main character to someone who appears and/or talks very briefly). I also talked about what types of traits and qualities characters can have. We also discussed what is plot is in a story (a summary of the main storyline, which includes a conflict, rising action, a climax, and a resolution). Finally, we discussed how to actively read a story. Class Period 7 Reading Street, Page 173: Read "The Cave in the Cliff", a story about a son and his father climbing a mountain and reaching a cliff. They find a cavern and observe excavations and prehistoric drawings within it. I pointed out and circled vocabulary words as we read. Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 1 1) Students took the Week 12 Unit Exam 2) RWN, Page 301: We read the passage on this page. Class Period 2 1) RWN, Page 301: Completed the questions about the passage. The questions were all about the usage of who vs. whom. 2) RWN, Pages 298-299: We learned about two different types of graphs: bar graphs (horizontal and vertical lines) and circle graphs (circular with percentages of a whole). Page 298: Answered questions related to a bar graph about the height of men's gymnastic equipment. Page 299: Answered questions related to a circle graph about the popularity of sports among 5th grade students at a school. Homework: 1) Write 5 sentences with two vocabulary sentences each. 2) OKSensay Week 12 Comprehension Questions.
