Here is what we covered today:

Class Period 0

Finished the Week 11 vocabulary introduction:

1. limelight: the center of public attention

2. hesitation: an act or instance of hesitating

3. somersault: a movement (as in gymnastics) in which a person turns forward or backward in a complete revolution along the ground or in the air bringing the feet over the head

4. gymnastics: physical exercises designed to develop strength and coordination

5. cartwheels: a lateral handspring with arms and legs extended

6. throbbing: to pulsate or pound with abnormal force or rapidity

7. wincing: to shrink back involuntarily (as from pain)

8. skidded: to apply a brake or skid to: slow or halt by a skid

9. bluish: somewhat blue: having a tinge of blue

10. back flip: a backward somersault especially in the air

11. backyard: an area at the rear of a house

12. breathed: having breath especially of a specified kind

13. straightest: free from curves, bends, angles, or irregularities

14. passengers: a traveler in a public or private conveyance

15. appreciative: having or showing appreciation

16. drops of sweat: liquid that forms from sweating

17. dry hands: when your hands have no moisture

18. nutrients: a substance or ingredient that promotes growth, provides energy, and maintains life

19. jealous: hostile toward a rival or one believed to enjoy an advantage

20. miserable: being in a pitiable state of distress or unhappiness (as from want or shame)

21. vinyl: a polymer of a vinyl compound or a product (such as a resin or a textile fiber) made from such a polymer

22. closet: a cabinet or recess for especially china, household utensils, or clothing

23. slippers: a light low-cut shoe that is easily slipped on the foot

24. lawn: ground (as around a house or in a garden or park) that is covered with grass and is kept mowed

25. sunflower seeds: seeds that come from sunflowers

26. bandages: a strip of fabric used especially to cover, dress, and bind up wounds

27. pulsating:  to throb or move rhythmically

28. Chinese checkers: a game in which each player seeks to be the first to transfer a set of marbles from a home point to the opposite point of a pitted 6-pointed star by single moves or jumps

29. garden:  a plot of ground where herbs, fruits, flowers, or vegetables are cultivated

30. dizzy: having a whirling sensation in the head with a tendency to fall

Page 294: Learned about who (subject) and whom [direct object or object of preposition (i.e. to whom)].

Hello Everyone, Here is what we covered today: Class Period 1: 1) We had the Week 4 Vocabulary quiz. 2) Reading Street Pages 51, 54.  Page 51: I finished talking about the Dalmatian story and underlined words that were part of our vocabulary. Page 54: I started the story "Tripping over the Lunch Lady" Homework:  1) I did not have students write in their communication books today, so the normal homework was not assigned. I may attach more writing to next Friday's homework to make up for this. However, please have the students complete the OkSensay Tasks: 2) During the PTO, I discussed the OKSensay software. Students should start their assignments now. For every week, we will have a new lesson, and there are now assignments from the previous weeks and the next week on the website. Monday, October 14 Classes

Hello Everyone, Here is what we covered today: Period 2: 1) I handed back the test and the worksheet from last Wednesday. 2) I handed back the "Friendly Letter" writing assignment and informed the students that they need to type up the letter on the computer and print it out for me or give to me on a USB drive. However, a USB drive will be preferable since I could print it out myself with the school's letterhead. 3) I talked about Sensay and told they students that they have a new assignment this week and to complete the past weeks' assignments. 4) I went over the new vocabulary for the new story "The Stormi Giovanni Club". Week 8 Vocabulary: 1. cavity  (n.)- A cavity is a hollow place in a tooth caused by decay. 2. episode (n.)- one of the single parts into which a story is divided, especially when it is broadcast on the television or radio 3. strict (adj.)- strongly limiting someone's freedom to behave as they wish, or likely to severely punish someone...

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class: Class Period 0 Reading Street, Page 203: Read the short story "In the Ocean Deeps". Discussed what was happening in the story and highlighted the vocabulary. The story is about how and why people explore the deep ocean and what can be found there. Class Period 7 Reading Street, Page 204-208: Started reading the unit story and discussed the story and vocabulary in detail. The story is about the exploration of the famous ship The Titanic. Homework: 1) Week 16 Vocabulary #11-20, write words x4, write definitions x1 2) OKSensay Week 16 Reading Comprehension Questions.
